COVID-19 Re-opening Preparations Update

Due to the Scottish Governments relaxation of the restrictions in place due to the coronavirus, we are now planning to reopen from Wed 15 Jul 2020.

During our period of closure, we have been busy making plans for reopening and, with guidance provided by the Scottish Government, VisitScotland, the AA, UK Hospitality, the B & B Association, Stayinstandrews and Tourism St Andrews, our preparations are already well advanced and we will be fully equipped and prepared to operate efficiently and safely for our guests.

However, as the easing of restrictions is being lifted in stages, there will be some changes from our normal way of operating.

There will enhanced cleaning procedures in place, self-distancing guidelines, speedy check-in and check-out procedures, revised breakfast procedures and plentiful supplies of disinfectant hand wash.

Cleanliness has always been a high priority for us, but we have planned an even more comprehensive cleaning programme to supplement our current procedures, followed by a disinfection programme to further reduce the risks of infection. Whilst cleaning, we will wear appropriate PPE which may include an apron or gown, visor, face mask and gloves. These are already provisioned.

For the public areas, in addition to our normal cleaning processes, special attention and disinfection will be made to high contact points such as umbrellas, ornaments, books, touch surfaces, door handles, remote controls, light switches and irons / ironing boards, etc. To achieve social distancing restrictions, there may be some access restrictions placed on our public areas.

For breakfasts, we anticipate that initially at least, self-service buffets will not be permitted and social distancing may preclude a sit down breakfast. Therefore, we are also considering takeaway breakfast options that will provide a full, tasty breakfast for guests with hot/cold drinks, but just delivered in a different format than that offered normally.

The specifics of any changes required will be determined by directives issued by the Scottish government in due course and guests will be advised of these revised procedures prior to our reopening and their arrival. Adequate notices will be displayed in the house to remind guests of these new measures.

All guests will also be advised to bring their own face masks with them.

We will be prepared and ready and believe we have already gone a long way to prepare ourselves for our reopening.

We look forward to welcoming guests once again and hope our guests will be reassured by our preparations.
